Luanne and I saw "Pride & Prejudice" last night. I wanted to see "Walk the Line," and I still will... but for last night, my wife won out...
Keira Knightley and Matthre MacFayden give luminous perfomances as Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Darcy in this adaptaion of Jane Austen's novel. The supporting characters are well-cast too, from the wealthy and powerful patroness played by Judi Dench to Elizabeth's parents played by Brenda Blethyn and Donald Sutherland.
I immediately liked the reality of the film. As Roger Ebert notes, when the girls go for a walk, they get mud on the hems of their dresses. I have never read the book, but I did enjoy the movie, and I highly recommend it.
